This curated space brings together the best of local design to evoke a distinct sense of the Swartland
Explore this stay

Layered in earthy tones to reflect its magnificent natural surroundings, Lulama House (just an hour’s drive outside of Cape Town) embodies uncomplicated luxury and ultimate relaxation. Think of this soulful Swartland oasis as a need-to-know hidden gem — your very own hideaway when you need an escape

The Lowdown

Lulama is tucked away on a farm in the tranquil village of Riebeek Kasteel, where its 200-year-old building has been artfully renovated to maintain the integrity of its origins, seamlessly blending old and new. The home features captivating mountain views, while its interior is carefully curated to reflect the rustic-luxe homeliness of its locale

Sleeping Arrangements

The property consists of 6 bedrooms in the original manor house and 3 private studio spaces, each carefully considered and styled with luxurious touches. All bedrooms have crisp, white organic cotton sheets, linen bedding and headboards, comfy king-size beds, fluffy Mungo cotton towels, The Scent amenities, ample cupboard space, and walk-in showers

What To Expect

Lulama was specifically designed with sophisticated communal living spaces to create the feel of a home-away-from-home where guests can come together to eat, relax and socialise. There’s also an outdoor cabana by the palm tree-lined pool, a stylish dining area, a cocktail bar, and an abundance of verandas to soak up the Swartland sun

The Art House Difference

Lulama reflects the design expertise of owner Prisca Llagostera, whose first project, l’Ovella Negra, is a renowned design-led hotel in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains. This curated space brings together the best of local design, from the artisans and craftsmen on the restoration itself to the bespoke fragrances by Scent that evokes a distinct sense of the Swartland
