A South African restaurant focusing on sustainably sourced seafood, Galjoen has finally opened its doors. The eatery is conceptualised by Anouchka Horn and Neil Swart, known for their work at Belly of the Beast, another popular Cape Town fine dining restaurant. The menu is not available to the public, but the restaurant serves a set tasting menu for patrons. You can book via the website, as bookings are open for a limited period each month. Want to see some local art? Be sure to check award-winning multi-disciplinary artist Zanele Muholi’s current showcase at the Southern Guild. The self-titled autobiographical exhibition runs from 15 June to 17 August and showcases new work from the artist. Have a look at the bronze sculptures and portrait photography on display, both new and select pieces from her extensive archive.
Cape Town-based artist and founder of Reticence Design, Driaan Claassen has his latest exhibition Complex Systems running at THK Gallery from 15 June to 30 July. Claassen uses a variety of materials in his work, from beautiful kiaat wood to bronze and copper. The exhibition focuses on exploring the mind, our neural pathways and what those interconnected complex systems may look like up close.
