The Lowdown
The house itself horseshoes around a central garden, the floor plan cleverly ushering private sleeping quarters to the wings, while the central structure houses the communal living areas, the rear opening up to a klompie-brick pool terrace with views of the Franschhoek mountains. You will find more than just pear trees at Forelle—citrus orchards, nut trees, as well as a vegetable garden will provide a cornucopia of fresh fare during your stay. And you’ll hardly be sacrificing proximity to the centre of town for this abundance of bucolic charm, as this house is a short walk from Franschhoek’s main road.
Sleeping Arrangements
Forelle accommodates 8 to 10 guests, with 4 beds, two kings and two queens, all en suite. The main bedroom can, on prior arrangement, accommodate an additional bunk bed for another 2 guests. The two queen-sized beds are located in cottages just off the main house, ensuring closeness whilst maintaining quiet.
What To Expect
Expect a soulful, feel-good stay; cool plunges in the pool on sunny days and a projector for cosy movie nights; wide, open spaces to explore and pillowy leather couches perfect for sun-dappled afternoon naps. Mindful gatherings with friends and family in a sacred place seemingly blessed by nature herself, that’s what Forelle is all about.
The Art House Difference
The architectural farmhouse disappears into the Franschhoek countryside, while inside an inspiring selection of African art really stands out. There's a strong contrast between the restrained architecture of the modern country estate's exterior with the high-comfort interiors, which layer natural textures and autumnal tones, and stone walls and steel finishes are warmed by timber-beam ceilings and roaring fireplaces.
