Clean lines and a minimalist composition with sweeping ocean views, Cypress is a distinctly timeless architectural home reminiscent of the Case Study Houses of ’50s Los Angeles with a heady dose of Mediterranean charm. This is a home for easy family gatherings, from quality time in the open-plan kitchen-dining area to days spent poolside, firing up the barbecue and watching the sun dip below the horizon.
The Lowdown
With the easy flow of its single-floor layout, Cypress perfectly harmonises mid-century architecture with its Cape coastal setting—a family-friendly, pavilion-style home that provides a secluded reprieve from the buzz of the nearby beaches and restaurants that make up its cosmopolitan neighbourhood.
Sleeping Arrangements
Cypress houses 5 bedrooms that sleep up to 10 guests. There’s a bath in the master suite, while a kids room features a single bunk bed that sleeps 2, complete with a playroom. Each room has air conditioning, and three of the rooms have sea views.
What To Expect
Designed to bring people together, the cosy open-plan kitchen, dining and living space is built for conversations and shared moments. At the heart of the property, a central patio hosts an outdoor dining area, making shared meals the cornerstone of your stay. A sun-baked garden surrounds the sparkling pool complete with loungers, and umbrellas for leisurely afternoons. Little ones will love playing with the plush toys on their bunk beds, while evenings are best spent around the outdoor braai.
The Art House Difference
Against the backdrop of whitewashed brickwork, the home’s abundance of natural materials—think rattan chairs, soft linens, warm timber, and a profusion of greenery—and stand-out collection of abstract art really shines. The clean, rectilinear architecture is the perfect foil to the craggy peaks of the mountains above, while the seamless inside-outside flow celebrates air, light, and openness.
