Unlike most of the bungalows that dot Clifton’s Mediterranean-like coastal cliffside, Siren enjoys complete privacy from passing beachgoers while still basking in breathtaking ocean views. Spread across two generous levels, the home’s easygoing atmosphere and sunny indoor-outdoor living style make this a must-book for couples looking for a secluded seaside escape.
The Lowdown
Resting in a lush hamock of land between mountain and ocean, Siren is a secluded beachfront bungalow that embodies the simple philosophy of slow living. Its uniquely tented architecture ensures that even on the hottest days the home’s whitewashed spaces remain refreshingly cool, while floor-to-ceiling glass doors fold away to welcome in the salty sea air and sounds of nearby waves gently breaking on Clifton’s powder-soft shores.
Sleeping Arrangements
The private bedroom area of Siren occupies the entire lower level of the bungalow. The king-size bed faces towards the ocean, with two en suite bathrooms on either side. The bedroom level opens directly onto the pool terrace.
What To Expect
A series of steps leads you down to the bungalow, which hugs the mountainside along this Mediterranean-like coastline. Siren boasts complete privacy and proximity to vibrant Camps Bay and Sea Point in equal measure. The bungalow’s layout comprises a series of open-plan spaces that flow from the upstairs entertaining areas downstairs to the cocooning en suite bedroom, with access to a sheltered garden with a pool.
Summers here are guided by an easygoing spirit; from crisp morning coffee on the pool veranda watching fishing boats pass by to evenings under indigo skies, making a fire and watching the sun set behind the ocean.
The Art House Difference
Not to be outdone by its architectural pedigree, the bungalow’s walls boast an impressive collection of contemporary South African art, including works by Tamary Kudita, Walter Battiss, and Peter Cohen, bringing a chic, gallery-like element to the otherwise blissful, barefoot luxe of the space.
